The Egyptian Society of Surgical Oncology (EGSSO), was established in 2001 by The Department of Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute -NCI – Cairo University where the headquarter is located.
The Society was affiliated to and sponsored by the Egyptian Medical Society – Egyptian Medical Syndicate as a sub group. As of 2013, the Egyptian Society of Surgical Oncology (EGSSO) emerged as a separate body according to the new bylaws in Egypt for NGOs establishment and practice.
The EGSSO was established with the primary objective of introducing Surgical Oncology to the surgical community as a subspecialty and supporting its members in advancing the science and practice of surgical oncology for the benefit of cancer patients.
The EGSSO is the first recognized society in the Middle East in Surgical Oncology with current local and regional memberships of 650 applicants.
